Saddler’s Cottage is located in the picturesque and tranquil yet lively market town of Sedbergh, nestled at the foot of the magnificent Howgill Fells. Sedbergh is conveniently located in both the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park and Cumbrian Lake District, providing a perfect base for exploring each of these wonderful and interesting areas.
Sedbergh, being England’s official book town and the largest settlement in the Yorkshire Dales, benefits from a wonderful selection of traditional pubs and eateries, book and antiques shops, with plenty of history, regular markets and many other events.

The village of Orton is a delightful and beautiful village in the Cumbrian Lune Valley, just north of the Howgill Fells, only 5 minutes from the M6 motorway at junction 38 and only 15 minutes drive from Appleby, Kendal and Kirkby Stephen. Orton is well known for being the stop-off point on Wainwright’s coast to coast walk before the long haul to Kirkby Stephen and sits amidst an interesting rural landscape offering a recently refurbished local pub, village stores and Post Office, regular village markets and a children’s playground. Kennedy’s chocolate factory and Tea Rooms is also worth a visit. Church View cottage is located in the heart of the village ensuring all amenities are close by.
